The Woking bandstand is a key place in our history, it is the location of our first ever gig, indeed, it is for this gig that we came into existence. It wasn’t a perfect gig by any means, but we finished with more people than we had when we started, so that’s something!
The Ukeaholics visited the Phoenix Cultural Centre in Woking, where we played for much of the evening!
The Ukeaholics played the Woking Bandstand for the second time as part of ‘Our Big Gig‘. We got lots of children up on stage at the end of our set, and they loved blowing on the kazoo!
We had a great night at the George Abbot – we were asked to play our entire set, and then we were asked for more… Good fun, although a punter did fall on the hosts guitar, much to his consternation.
A couple of our number scouted out the Open Mic at the Kings Head – the rest of us are to follow!
All seven Ukeaholics crammed into an area of the King’s head normally occupied by a guitarist. We played three numbers – a Queen cover, a Kinks cover and a Madness cover.
We have an established gig book and an ‘experimental’ gig book, which contains things we’re working on, things that we think we can jam to, and things which some of us will take the lead in. Martin and Hussein are planning on pitching up at the King’s Head in Guildford with (ssshh) guitars. Not guaranteed they’ll get a slot, but if they do they’ll be playing a couple of originals.
